Just Between Friends Sale

I have been blogging a lot about getting ready for a big consignment sale, but I haven't really gone into details about it.  It is the sale my girlfriends and I can't wait to shop at.  It's called Just Between Friends and it's amazing.  The sale starts Thursday, March 21st, and runs through Sunday, March 24th.  It's at the Mesquite Rodeo Exhibit Hall--1700 Rodeo Drive, Mesquite, TX 75149.  It has anything and everything you could ever need for your babies, toddlers, kids and maternity needs.  Everything is divided into sections to make it easier for you to find what you are looking for.  I went for the first time ever when I was pregnant with Makenzie and loaded up.  I got everything I needed for a fraction of the cost of what I would have spent shopping in stores.  They have a sale in the spring/summer (this one), and one for fall/winter.  I can't wait to shop and get all of Makenzie's clothes and shoes for the upcoming spring and summer.  Check out their website and get ready for the best, and biggest consignment sale ever!!!

Potty Training in progress....

Woo hoo!!!  Potty training is going great.  I'm trying not to get too excited and get my hopes up--but Makenzie is rocking!!!  Today she came up to me and said "poop", clear as could be--never heard her say that before.  I took her hand and we ran to the potty chair and sat her down.  SHE POOPED IN THE POTTY CHAIR!!!!  Before bath time, I sat her down again and she went potty in the potty chair!!  (WARNING: graphic pictures coming up)

I'm so proud of her!!  I can't believe we are potty training, but I'm so glad to nearing the end of diapers!!!

Let me back track to Friday.  I got off work and picked up Makenzie and we headed to MiMi's house.  Uncle Jim and Aunt Jess had driven in and we went over to visit.  They brought Makenzie the cutest puppy that vibrated--she loved it, and kept putting it on her nose.

Saturday morning, my Uncle Jerry and Aunt Anita came over, along with Mimi and Aunt Jess (Papa and Uncle Jim went to a gun show).  We had breakfast together and then hung out and visited.  Makenzie kept taking Uncle Jerry's hat and wearing it, and played peek-a-boo with Aunt Anita.

Uncle Jerry and Aunt Anita left to go to Fort Worth, and Papa and Uncle Jim got back and came over.  We laid Kenzie down for a nap, and Mimi and Aunt Jess helped me put the tags on all the clothes for the sale.  We ordered pizza and when Kenzie woke up we went to Costco, and ended up saying bye to everyone there (they all headed back to Mimi and Papa's house).  When Scotty got off work we went to Mi Cocina with the McBains. Jessica saved the day with a sucker.  I guess I need to start carrying them in my purse too--LOL. It was so yummy.

Sunday morning we slept in until 10:00--really just 9(daylight savings).  Makenzie helped me do laundry--helped as in put on all her daddy's shirts on and transferred the clothes into and out of the hamper a million times.  While she napped, Scotty and I cleaned and rearranged our bedroom.  We decided to take out our chest of drawers to make more room.  It looks good and we definitely have more room---we need a bigger house!!!  When she got up, we went to Firewheel mall to shop for a little bit, and then had dinner at Saltgrass.

We had a wonderful weekend.  It was full of family, friends, and fun.  Love my sweet girl and how funny she is.  She is my world and I love all the memories we make together!!!

Good news/Bad news

Good news--Makenzie is feeling better!!!
Bad news--She passed it to her Mommy, boo!!
Good news--We went to the park after work!!
Bad news--Makenzie did a cartwheel off the top of the stairs......
Good news--after a few tears, she couldn't get back up the stairs fast enough!!
Bad news--Mommy is scarred now and terrified of her playing at the playground!!

After work, I had a doctor appt, then went to Office Depot to print those dang tags onto cardstock.  Then I ran to get my car inspected, and found I had nails in my tires that they took out and plugged for me. I went home and emptied the dishwasher and reloaded it and then went and grabbed Makenzie.  It was such a pretty day that I figured we should go let off some energy at the park.  When we pulled up, Aunt Korie and her crew were there, so we spent the evening playing with them too.  We had played here a few weeks ago at Dallas' birthday party, so Makenzie knew what to do. She would climb up the stairs and then go to the tall slide and go down.  She climbed up one time and missed the rail to hold onto and did a cartwheel off the top step.  All I saw were hands and feet cartwheeling off the side and splat into the wood chips.  I was so scared she broke something.  She whimpered a little, and I picked her up and checked for broken bones. The whole time she is pushing off of me trying to get down so she could go back up the stairs.  I noticed some scratches on her forehead and on her tummy. I was a nervous wreck.  She had a blast and wore herself out.  We went home and ate chicken nuggets and macaroni--dinner of champions. She sat on the potty chair, but didn't do anything, then bath and bed!!!

Jennifer sent me a picture today of Makenzie helping her do laundry.  She does the same thing for me at home.  When I'm putting clothes into the washer, she will pick out clothes from the laundry basket and hand them to me and say either "thank you" or here go".  I can't quite tell but I think it's "thank you".  Every time she hands them to me I say thank you, so I think she has caught on.  It's really cute.

Potty Training Time

I forgot to mention in my last post that we are starting to potty train in the Smith house.  Last night, after dinner, I got out her potty chair and let her sit on it.  We read a book and she sat there and did great.  Nothing happened, but the point was to introduce her to the potty.  I'm going to start doing it in the morning when she wakes up, when we get home from the sitters, and before her bath.  I'm also going to make a sticker chart and get some M & M's today too.  I'm hoping she will start to get it, and then start doing it at the sitter's house too.  I'm not going to rush it, or stress over it, but just offer it to her.

Wish us luck

Fussy + Clingy = sick baby

Lets go back to Monday.....It was my first day to start my new schedule of getting off at 3.  I was so excited all day.  I spent from 2:00 on counting down the minutes until 3, and was out the door at 3:01.  I went to Aunt Kories to pick up Makenzie and went home to change clothes and load up the stroller for a walk.  She actually wore her sunglass--I have been trying for the longest time and she won't leave them on, and she looed adorable.  And then.....crying! Not just a little, but loud screaming, crying, snot running off her face.  She was pissed.  She had a snack, her cup, a toy and my phone playing Mickey Mouse.  I thought she would calm down, so we kept going.  But nope.....she cried the whole hour and 10 minutes that we were out.  I would sneak around and wipe her face off (by the end of the trip her shirt was just a rag of snot).  Towards the end, Aunt Korie went ahead and jogged home, with her sweet SLEEPING son, and I got Makenzie out and let her walk beside the stroller.  She immediately quit crying, held my hand and walked--a pretty good distance. She eventually got tired of walking so I put her back in the stroller and ran the fastest I have ever run to get us home.  It was awful.  I let her play in the sink (it seems like I do this alot, but she likes it--like I can actually do things in the kitchen while she sits and plays in the running water).  I let her play for a little while and then off to bed she went.  I spent the rest of the night hanging up clothes and entering in tags for the sale.

Don't let this sweet face fool you.....this is before the hour long tantrum

thought I was kidding about an hour and 10 minutes......

Tuesday was exhausting.  Makenzie ended up moaning all night and finally about 11:45 started crying and calling me over and over.  I went ahead and put Kirbydog in his bed and brought Kenzie to our bed.  She has never, not once, slept in our bed.  I now remember why.  She laid down at first beside me, but then started talking, rubbing my head, talking to dada.  I kept telling her to lay down, and she would but only for a few minutes.  So after an hour and a half I took her back to her bed--that stinker was sucking her thumb, laying down before I even left her room.  A wasted hour and a half--that I could have been sleeping, her too for that matter.  She just does better in her bed.(She won't fool me next time) I had an appointment this morning to get my passport.  It was quick and easy.  Stopped and got my starbucks to help with lack of sleep and off to work I went.  I was out the door at 3:00 on the dot--love my new schedule.  Went home and picked up Makenzie from Aunt Kories house and we went home and played.  I decided to not take a jog today after the fun we had yesterday, plus my legs were super sore.  She was extra clingy and fussy and just wanted me to hold her.  Dinner, bath and bed came early for her.  I spent the rest of the night AGAIN hanging up clothes and entering in tags.  I have a ton done already, but still have to print the tags I have entered and pin those on the outfits.  Going to be a lot of work still.

stacks of clothes that still need to have tags on them

Wednesday, we decided she probably needed to go to the doctor and get checked out.  Scotty brought her in and poor thing has strep throat and RSV.  Bless her heart. No wonder she has been fussy and clingy.  I feel bad for her.  I'm not super surprised by the RSV--all her friends have snotty noses--tis the season.  But the strep throat I was not expecting.  Her little throat was bright red.  Scotty took her home, and stayed with her until I got off at 3, since she can't go to the sitter's until tommorrow.  Poor guy, he already had an appointment to get his passport at 10:45, so he had to take her with him.  He said she was super fussy and cried the whole way home and while they were there.  We are all set now for our trip to Mexico.  Can't wait!!! She was in a pretty good mood when I got home.  I was able to clean up around the house a little.  I had gone in the front room to put something away(I say "put away" lightly, the front room is our catch all, we open the door, throw something in, and close it back), I must have left the light on because a little while later I noticed Kenzie wasn't in the living room.  I looked down the hall and she was in the front room playing.  That room is no where near being "Kenzie-Proof", so I decided I would go in there and clean it up while she was in there.  Turned out to be a good idea--it looks much better and I don't have to worry about her playing in there anymore.  I made fiesta salad for dinner (basically taco meat with pinto beans over white rice and we eat with fritos) I didn't think Makenzie would eat, but she tore it up. She ate her whole plate and when Scotty got back, she ate off his plate too.  We had a really good night--so it made up for the last 2 days we have had.

Scotty had left after I got home.  He had to go to Mesquite to get our taxes back and take them to one of his friends to look at.  The first guy said it looked like we were going to have to owe money, so he wants his friend to look at it first.  Then he went to our storage building to get the rest of my totes out (the ones I was too chicken to go to the back of the unit to get).  So we unloaded the totes and I hung up 2 more totes of clothes.  I still have to enter them in the computer and then add them to the stack to pin tags too.  I think I'm going to go through 1-2 more totes and then call it done.  I will do the rest for the next sale in the fall.  It's alot of work!!!

Weekend Wrap-Up

What a great weekend we had.  Aunt Korie babysat Makenzie on Friday, so I went straight there to pick her up. She had a great time and played hard.  She had her first coffee--thanks to her aunt Korie!!  She sent me this video of her riding a motorcycle.  Looks/sounds like she had a great day.
Shannon was there with Presley and her sister Ashley was there with her son Hunter.  It is so fun that we all have babies close in age that get to grow up together!!  Love all these kiddos.

Scotty came and picked up Makenzie and all the girls stayed for a baby shower for our friend Jennifer.  She is having twin girls in a few weeks.  Can't wait to meet them.

Saturday, Mimi came over to do laundry(her washer broke) and hang out.  When Makenzie went down for her nap, we got busy hanging and tagging clothes for the consignment sale.  We made a small dent, but ran out of safety pins.  That night, Scotty snuck out of work early and we went to dinner with the Poe's, and the Smith's to Uncle Julios--so yummy.

Sunday, us girls went to Divine Consign.  We had looked forward to this for so long.

It is a huge consignment sale.  We bought a breakfast ticket and got there at 10 to eat, and then got to shop an hour early before it opens to the public.  That hour is critical to get all the good stuff before the massive crowd gets there.  We all got great stuff.  I went over board (as usual), but I got some really good stuff for her to wear this spring and summer.  (I even found Makenzie a baby doll bunk bed that is hot pink and lime green--$4.50, and a baby doll swing--$5.00, I think I may hold these for her birthday, but I'm know to give in...we'll see)  When we were done, we met up with the boys at Shennanigans.  They did a great job at watching the kiddos while we shopped.

Scotty rode the go-carts, and Makenzie laughed everytime he rode by.  It was so cute.  We went home and unloaded all our goodies and looked again at all out stuff.  Makenzie was beyond tired--no nap, so we called it an early night and headed home for bath and bedtime.
Makenzie loves sweet Presley.  The other day I told her we were going to play with Dallas and Presley, and she said "baby".  She knows exactly who she is.  She loves to kiss her, and point out all her body parts (sometimes kind of hard, so I have to watch her). It's really sweet!
