Easter Weekend

We had such a wonderful weekend.  We spent lots of family time together and started some new Easter traditions.

Friday, we went over to Aunt Korie's house to hang out and play.  Shannon came over with Presley and we all went to see the Easter bunny.  I thought maybe Makenzie would do better this time since she had already seen him the night before.  It started out great.  She sat with me on the scooter and we talked about how nice and sweet the Easter bunny was.  When we got about 20 people away from the front of the line, she did a double take between peoples heads and saw the Easter bunny--and that was it.  She turned around and started crying.  She would look at him and then whip her head back away and scream.  Presley went first and did perfect.  Dallas went but wasn't excited.  Makenzie went and cried the whole time and reached out for me.  I even gave her a sucker to hold and eat--didn't work.  She cried, more like screamed, the whole way home.  The husbands brought us girls dinner and then we colored eggs.  The babies weren't really that into it, but the mommy's made some pretty eggs.  Makenzie would drop the egg in and then stir it around, but mostly flung colored water all over the table and made a mess.  (side note: I am so over being on crutches.  While we were waiting on the dads to get home, I made Makenzie a few chicken nuggets because she was starving.  I had just managed to hop with the plate while on crutches into the play room and sit down to feed her, when she looked at me and said "poop" and made the poop face.  So up we jumped, and ran to the potty---except no, that's not what we did.  I had to get up, hobble to take the chicken nuggets to the kitchen counter so Layla wouldn't eat them, then crutch into the bathroom, and then fumble to squat down to lift her onto the potty, all while trying to keep her excited about going on the potty chair.  She had already gone in her diaper by the time we finally made it in there.  It's so frustrating, and I'm worried this is going to set us back with me not being able to get her there in time.  I'm glad she told me that she had to go, but I felt awful to not be able to get her to the potty so she could go. Then, after I got her changed, she stepped in dog pee.  Totally wasn't a big deal. The big deal was not being able to pick her up to get her to stop walking with it on her feet all over Aunt Korie's floor, and not being able to get stuff to clean her up, or getting her a new outfit) (second side note: On my lunch break, I decided to venture to Target and do some shopping.  I found a parking spot and crutched into Target, found the electric scooters and hopped on.  I made it about 5 feet and it died.  I used my good foot to scoot it back to it's spot and checked the other one--it was dead.  I crutched across Target--SUPER TARGET, to the other set of buggy's.  Of course there were none.  By this time I'm livid.  I crutch outside and back across Target to where my car is.  I happened to see another scooter in the parking lot by a handicap parking spot, so I crutched over there.  You guessed it--it was dead.  I get in my car and drive back to work--mad, my hands hurting from crutching, tired, hot and MAD)

Saturday, Kenzie and I hung out and watched cartoons until about 10:30'ish.  I felt so lazy and couldn't wake up, so we decided to get up and get ready and headed to Mimi and Papa's house to hang out.  She fell asleep on the way over there and seemed tired still when we got there, so Mimi, Makenzie and I layed down in Mimi's bed and tried to take a nap.  After about an hour of being silly, she finally fell asleep--sitting up sucking her thumb with her blanket.  Mimi and I rolled off the bed and snuck out and let her sleep for about an hour. When she woke up we went outside and let her run around.  She loves it their backyard.  She knows where Mimi's "flowers", weeds, are and will pick them for us one by one.  She loves to just run around and explore.  We came inside and colored some more Easter eggs.  She did better this go around.  There was a sheet of stickers in the egg kit that she decided looked better on her than on the eggs.  She stuck them all over herself.  Papa went and got us pizza for dinner and Mimi gave Makenzie a bath while we were waiting.  She ended up eating a whole piece of pizza by herself.  We left to come home and she went right to bed.

This morning we woke up to thunder, lightening, rain and hail--big hail.  So glad the Easter bunny didn't hide any eggs outside.  Makenzie found her Easter basket and loved everything the Easter bunny left for her.  We got her pointed in the right direction to finding her eggs, and she caught on quick.  She would run to an egg, shake it, then break it apart and eat the goodies inside.  There were M&M's jelly beans inside.  She LOVES them both.  She did really good at finding all her eggs.  We got ready and headed to Mimi and Papa's house to see what the Easter bunny left her there.   She got another basket there and more eggs to find.   I guess the Easter bunny knew she liked M&M's and jelly beans because they were in her eggs there too.  We had a yummy lunch and then headed off to Grandma and Grandpas house to visit with them.  She had fun exploring their house and seeing all their dogs.  We took Destiny back with us to take her home and stopped to get snow cones on the way home.  I gave Makenzie a bite and she hollered "more" over and over again in between bites.  She ended up not getting a nap all day, and was very cranky by the end of the ride home.  When we got home, it was laundry and cleaning up time.  I did 5 loads of laundry and organized her drawers in her dresser.  Makenzie got into the laundry basket that daddy was "folding" and I found 2 of my things in the trash can--wonder who did that.  Makenzie told us she had to poop, so we "raced" into the bathroom and I sat her on the potty chair.  We sat there for about 5 minutes (long enough for her to eat a kitkat--I thought a little snack would make her want to go....), she never went so I let her get up and run into the living room without her diaper.  I cleaned up a little in the bathroom and heard Scotty say "Oh my god", I figured she had pottied on the floor, but NO, she had pooped on the floor.  The biggest poop I've ever seen.  I'll spare you the picture I took, but trust me when I say it could easily have passed as something Scotty had done.  LOL

I wanted to jot down a few new things Makenize has started doing.  She now will say "Please" when we prompt for it.  It's really cute, and in the cutest littlest voice ever.  It kind of sounds like "Peas". She can have anything she wants sounding like that.  We have been working on animal sounds and she can now do the sounds for dog, cat, snake, pig, and rooster.  I'll ask her what they say and she will do it.  We have also been pointing at things in her books, and now when we ask her where something is she will point to it.  She is in a book phase right now.  I bet we read a thousand books a day.  She has started saying her name if we ask her "What is your name".  She will point to herself and say "Kenzie".   She has started to stay "what's that" and point to things.  She got that from Scotty and I always asking her what something is.  It's fun to see her start putting things together and form words for things she's thinking about or sees.  Since having a runny nose while being sick, she has learned to blow her nose.  It makes it very handy, except that she will blow her nose on anything that resembles her boogie wipe.  I've caught her using a dryer sheet, a sock, and pulling toilet paper of the roll in the bathroom while I was getting ready.
