Pregnancy 1 vs. Pregnancy 2

My pregnancies have been night and day!  The first main difference is no high blood pressure this go around!  My hands and feet aren't puffy--I'm still able to wear my wedding ring!
These were my poor feet last pregnancy!
I've also only gained about half as much weight as I did the first time!  I'm sure a lot of that was fluid weight that I don't have this time, but I'm happy about it!  I still have eaten everything in sight!  This go around I felt her move a lot sooner that the first time--maybe because I knew what to expect and feel for!  She was also a lot lower! ALOT! It was awkward to have people feel her kick she was so low!  Madison moves a ton more than Kenzie did!
The top pic is me at 36 weeks with Kenzie and bottom is 36 weeks with Madison! Same shirt--funny!
I was induced at 37 weeks with Kenzie, so I didn't get to this point with her, but I'm having a ton more back pain! It started a few weeks ago, but the spasms have really set in now!  I have also peed more through the night with this pregnancy! I hardly remember getting up at all to pee during the night with Kenzie! I'm up everynight at least 2-3 times! So annoying!  With Kenzie I had the dark line that ran down the middle if my stomach! I don't have that with Madison! (Other things that were big and brown with Kenzie are not this time)  My belly button I think popped out more with this pregnancy than it did with Kenzie!  I think I got lucky again in the stretch mark department!  I don't see any so far, and I didn't get any with Kenzie either!  I may have one or two on my hips/booty but I'm pretty sure they were there before!  I am so thankful for this!  Not that I'm planning on busting out my bikini this summer or anything! I have felt better throughout this pregnancy, up until last week!  With Kenzie I was able to come home and relax everynight, but this time I come home to a crazy 2 year old, so no resting! With Makenzie I craved Mexican food and powdered sugar donuts! With Madison I have craved orange sherbet and Mexican food!

The main difference I hope to have between the two, is no NICU.  I want her to come out pink and crying and come home with her family!

I have said I really wanted to make it to at least February--because it's a prettier birthstone than January, duh! If I can hold out thru tomorrow I have made it!

Today was my first true day of staying home! Scotty took Kenzie to school and I did some cleaning around the house!  I met with a potential babysitter in the neighborhood, and I think I may have found my girl! We'll see!  I had to run by the bank and of course dropped the bank tube thing and it rolled away! I had to motion to the 6 cars behind me to hang on while I rolled forward and got out to try and find it in 40 mph wind! It had rolled under the car behind me so I motioned for her to move forward so I could get it and run it back to its holder--so annoying!  I made a quick trip to Target to grab some last minute things!  It did me in! I was dragging on my way out!  I really wanted to go to Half Priced Books to get a few new books to read to Kenzie! I attempted but had to put my books down and leave! My back hurt so bad and I was getting spasms after spasms! I came home and laid in bed from 11-4, it was great!  I drug myself out of bed and picked up my girl and came home to play and cook dinner!  She was super silly tonight!
Her rash on her face looks much better--thank god!  I Lysol'ed all her toys this morning after she left and again tonight when she went to bed!

Allergy testing

Scotty and I took Makenzie to the allergy doctor today to get her tested for antibiotics that she has broken out in hives to before.  She has had problems with 2 different ones and it is making it difficult when she gets sick to pick an antibiotic.  We first consulted with him and gave him her history and he recommended proceeding with the testing. The first test was 5 pricks on her back.  She sat in my lap and squirmed a little but she did really good considering.
She passed this test.  The plus sign is what a positive test should have looked like, and the minus is what a negative test looks like.  The 2 tests on bottom are actual penicillin doses administered.  They both were negative so we proceeded to the next test.   This one was not fun.  Scotty started out holding her, but he couldn't do it.  He's such a softie when it comes to her. She sat in my lap and I bear hugged her and bribed her with a sucker.  The nurse had to give her 5 little shots under her skin on her arm.  She didn't like this one at all.
Poor baby!  Right after the nurse was done, she was done.  Up running around and playing again like nothing was wrong.  She said she had a tattoo like daddy!
She passed this test too so we moved on to the last step.  This was the easiest.  She had to drink a dose of Amoxicillin--the yummy pink bubblegum one.  We waited 45 minutes and no reaction.  This means she is clear to take a Penicillin medicine next time it is needed.  That opens up a lot more options for treatment should she need it.

Kenzie had 3 suckers, a little bag of M&M's, some veggie straws and a fruit pouch while we were there.  I brought anything I knew she would like to bribe her with these tests.  She crashed out the minute we got in the car.  Poor thing--we got to the doctor at 10:30 and at this point it was 1:30.  We stopped off for lunch at Red Robin and piggie girl still ate way more than I thought she would.  She must be going through a growth spurt or something.  I'm so proud of her and how well she did today.  She did everything the doctor asked her to do and was still smiling and sweet to them when we left.

We dropped daddy off at work and picked Kirby up from the groomers and headed home for a nap.  I let her cuddle with me in my bed and we slept for about an hour.  We spent the rest of the night playing then a bubble bath and some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse before bed.  She is such a sweet girl!

38 Weeks

How Far Along: 38 Weeks 1 day

Size of baby: HUGE  She feels so big.  We kid that she is going to have a Kardashian booty judging by how it feels when she rolls around in there.  The doctor said she is measuring at 39 weeks.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: up 21 pounds.  I lost 2 pounds since my last weeks appointment.  He said it was mostly fluid weight.  I'm sure I'm peeing it all out at night.

Maternity Clothes: Full on maternity clothes.

Gender: GIRL  Madison Grace Smith

Movement:  Non stop moving.  I love feeling her move, but it is very uncomfortable and hurts.  She can barely move and I feel it all over because she is so big.

Sleep: I've been sleeping pretty good.  I am still waking up about 2 times to pee but I'm able to go back to sleep pretty easily.

What I miss: Everything.  I'm over being pregnant.  I want her to cook in there as long as she can and needs to, but my body is tired.

Cravings: Crushed ice.  I have been eating it all day.

Best Moment This Week: My doctor gave the OK to stay home and rest until Madison comes.  I have been so tired at work and my hips hurt so bad when I walk.  I was so excited when he gave me the go ahead.

Oww

Today did me in!  I slept really good last night, but I should have known it was too good to be true! I rolled over to get out of bed and felt like my hips were splitting!  I could barely walk.  I made it to work and hobbled along but by the end of lunch I was so uncomfortable and almost in tears! I headed home and Scotty met me there to drive me to the doctor!  My doctor diagnosed me with being 9 months pregnant! Lol. He said my hips are spreading preparing for delivery (she must not have got the memo that she's not coming out that way).  She is measuring at 39 weeks and he said probably a big baby which is why it hurts so bad when she moves!  He did give me a note to not work anymore until I have the baby!  I don't think I could have walked around at work anymore anyways!  I lost 2 pounds since last week (I'll do my official post tomorrow) and he said it was mostly fluid weight--I lose it all at night peeing! I had my pre-op surgery bloodworm after my appointment and then we headed home!

This morning, I brought Kenzie with me to work to have her seen by the doctor! She has hand, foot and freaking mouth! I can't believe it! Flashbacks to December of 2011 are haunting me! She got a minor case if it but it hit me like a ton of bricks! Fever of 104 for days and so many blisters I couldn't bend my hands or hardly walk! Not to mention pregnant women are not supposed to be around rashes especially right before delivery!  If it's not one thing it's another!
This is yesterday and today there are about 20 more red spots around her mouth!  She's a trooper though! She never has run fever and she's been eating like a horse!  They say adults aren't supposed to get it, but with my history of having it, I'm skeptical.  I'm washing my hands like crazy and putting her medicine on with q-tips!

You are my sunshine

Bebe has been singing this song to Makenzie since I was pregnant.  Kenzie loves to hear it.  I finally was able to catch her sweet little voice singing to it.  Ignore my vocals and the oven dinging in the background.

Weekend wrap-up

I picked up Kenzie from school on Friday and out of the blue she said, "I see Bebe tonight".  It was really sweet so we called Bebe to tell her! (No prompting--I just asked how her day was). That's all Bebe needed to hear so she came over after work and spent the night! We had so much fun! Kenzie just loves it when she comes over, and the two of them giggle the whole time!
Saturday we ran a few errands and came back home and did some work in Madison's room! We got it all finished! Everything has a place and is put away, everything is washed (swing, rock n play, boppy, everything) and we had to re put up everything on the wall that fell this week! After Bebe left we went to the park with Koko, Dallas, Shannon and Presley! The kids had fun running around and we came home when it got a little chilly! Kenzie and I were going to go get some dinner but I got a really bad pain in my lower tummy! I had never felt it before and it kind of scared me! Scared me enough that I took notice of the time (5:36) and called my mom!  I decided we better stay home just in case something happened, but I never felt anything again!

This morning we woke up and went and had breakfast! It was delicious! Our little piggy wouldn't let us leave until she had eaten every last bite on her plate! We came home and played and I snuck off to get a pedicure while Kenzie napped!  I'm trying to keep my toes done, legs shaved and my hair strait so when the time comes I'll be ready! I can get a few days out of strait hair, but curly needs to be done everyday or it's a big frizz ball! The rest of the afternoon was spent being lazy and laying around playing with Kenzie!
So glad my husband got to take a nap today! He told me this morning that he wanted me to just lay around and rest all day and take a nap, and instead.....he takes a nap! Kenzie was really good and played all afternoon!  We took her outside to jump for awhile! The weather was really nice today and is supposed to get really cold tomorrow!
It's always a chore to get her off the trampoline and inside!  She pitches the biggest fit!  After her bath tonight I blow dried and straitened her hair! I didn't get to do a great job at it because she kept wanting to reach back and touch it and I was afraid she was going to burn herself!
Her hair looks so long strait! She looked really cute and she kept rubbing it saying "pretty", but I like the curls at the end!

Madison's room

Madison's room is finished!  I love how it has turned out!!
I will put her newborn pictures in these frames when I get them back!

It is so bright and cheery in there!  I'm still looking for a rug and something for the top of her dresser!!

Soaking in the last few days

12 days, 19 hours, 27 minutes and 50 seconds until we meet our sweet baby girl.  (But who's counting) If  I make it that long, that is!  While I am so excited to meet my baby girl, I am also so nervous too.  We have such a good routine now--sleeping, getting ready for work/school, playing, being able to go out, that I don't know how much adding another little one is going to rock our world.  I worry how Kenzie will take to not being the only kiddo anymore.  I am glad that she is still so little and I hope that will help in the fact that maybe she won't totally understand.  She's been my whole world for the past 2 1/2 years, how can I ever "split" my love and time with someone else.  I KNOW that I will, and that I can, and that I already love Madison so much, but it just seems impossible to love someone else as much as I do Makenzie.

I am soaking in every moment that I have in the last few days with my little family of 3.  We are staying up late, giving extra hugs and kisses, I may/or may not be letting her get away with more than I normally would, and telling her how much she means to me.  I have been trying to explain to her that we are bringing home a new baby soon that will be her little sister and she already loves her so much.  I know she has no idea what that means, but she's really cute when she nods her little head yes.  Every night after her bedtime story she sits up and says "I kiss Mani" (she calls her Ma-ni) and will kiss my tummy a million times.  It's really cute, even though I know she is stalling bed time.  I set up Madison's pack n play at the end of our bed and every time Makenzie walks by it she says "that's Mani's bed".  It must be weird for her to see all this baby stuff and hear us talking about Madison all the time, but not actually seeing her!  I'm going to try my hardest to let her do as much as she can to help me with the baby.  I'm going to keep my OCD under control and let her play with the baby's things and let her kiss her head and give her a pacifier all that she wants.  I want her to love Madison and not feel discouraged by her if I'm always saying "no" to her when it comes to Madison.  She is going to do great and be the best big sister ever.  She loves her baby dolls so much and is actually really good with them, after she strips them all down naked--I swear we have no dolls with their clothes still on them.

I also wanted to document some more sweet things she has been doing lately.  Scotty gets her out of bed and brings her to our room in the morning to get her ready while I'm getting ready.  Every morning I ask her if she slept good and if she dreamed of mommy.  For the past week or so, she will run up to me in the mornings and give me a big hug and say "I dream of Mommy".  I absolutely love it.  She is so proud of herself when she says it.   When we get to school she always has to kiss her blanket and whichever baby she brings with her and tell them "see you after school".  It's so cute.  She is the sweetest girl ever and I love seeing all the new things she picks up on and does.

37 Weeks

How Far Along: 37 Weeks

Size of baby: Madison is the size of a watermelon this week. Over 22 inches long and about 6 and a half pounds

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I'm up 23 pounds.  I gained 1 pound since my check up last week.  I've noticed that I'm not able to eat as much as I have been.  She takes up so much room in my stomach there isn't any room for food.  I get so full after only a few bites.

Maternity Clothes: Full on maternity clothes.

Gender: GIRL  Madison Grace Smith

Movement:  Non stop moving.  I love feeling her move, but it is very uncomfortable and hurts.  She can barely move and I feel it all over because she is so big.

Sleep: Since getting the OK to take Tylenol PM, I have been sleeping much better.  I made it through the night a few times this week, and the other nights I just woke up to pee and was able to go right back to bed.

What I miss:  I have been getting some braxton hicks contractions.  They are in my back and feel like little spasms.  I change positions and they go away and feel better.  I'm ready to have all these aches and pains gone and have a sweet baby girl to cuddle.

Cravings: Ice cream.  Still orange sherbet but I haven't been able to eat it this week.  The last 2 times I had it I woke up with the worst heartburn.  Boo

Best Moment This Week: I got everything done this week that I needed to do.  My bag is packed, Scotty's bag is packed, I have things prepared for if my water breaks (trash bags and towels in my car and trash bag under my mattress pad), wreath for the door is done, Madison's room is finished and all her clothes are washed, her pack n play is set up.  I feel as prepared as I can be.  I just need a baby!!!

Weekend wrap up

Friday was Bebe's birthday!!!  Happy birthday to the best Bebe and mom in the world!  We didn't get to celebrate with her because she wasn't feeling so well so we let her rest!
Kenzie and I played on the trampoline and then came in to defrost! It was chillier than I thought!
This baby needs to come on! I'm running out of shirts to wear!!!

Saturday morning we headed to Bebe and Papa's for the day! We stopped on the way and Kenzie picked out flowers and a cake to give to her Bebe!  We played for awhile and then headed out to run some errands!  We got some really good deals at babies r us! We met Papa for lunch and laughed so hard the whole time!  Kenzie and Bebe started off sitting by each other, but they got in trouble by Papa for laughing and goofing off so he switched seats with Bebe at the end!
She kept leaning over and telling Bebe "secrets". She would cup her little hands over Bebe's ear and whisper!  So cute!
Papa wasn't as amused by her silliness!  He tries to act tough but he's a softie when it comes to her!
She was mesmerized by his ear!  She kept leaning down to look in it and would poke and then laugh! I told him she could see all the way though the other side!!!

We came home and sang happy birthday to Bebe and ate cake!
Mom and I worked on a wreath for my hospital door when Madison is born!  It's really cute!  Kenzie "helped" because she refused to take a nap even though she was so tired!!! Mom has been working on busy bags for Kenzie to have to play with while I'm tending to the baby!  She did such a good job and Kenzie loves them and played with them for awhile! I will take pictures and post later!!

We headed home and Kenz passed out the minute we drove off!  I guess she just needed a power nap because she was a bundle of energy when we got home! Scotty brought home dinner and we played until bedtime!

This morning we headed out to the mall to do a little shopping!  We stopped to eat first at Cheesecake Factory!  Out of the million choices they have there I still ended up having chicken strips--go figure!!!  We walked around for awhile and my body was done!  It wore me out and I had to pee a million times just doing the one lap that we did! Kenzie fell asleep in the car, but again wouldn't stay asleep when we got home!  I left to go do my nails and run an errand while they played!  We had an early dinner of leftovers and then went outside to jump together!
She loves to lay on her tummy and have Scotty bounce her!!
The hard part is getting her off the trampoline!  She runs from us and screams and cries!  Our neighbor even came out to see if she was ok!  Not good!!!  We took a bath....
She "insisted" on washing my feet!  They felt a little swollen and it felt good to put them in the water and I didn't resist when she started washing them!  Sweet girl!

Poor Kenzie!  We were going to her room for bed and she was in front of me! I hadn't gotten to her light switch yet and heard her trip and crash and then cry! When I turned on the light there was blood all over her mouth! Worst feeling ever! My first thought was she was crying so hard she was going to pass out, but I scooped her up and told her she was ok and she she didn't!  Scotty got her an ice pack and a drink of water so we could see what happened! Looks like she has two little cuts on her gum above the two teeth next to the front tooth!  Her lip is swollen but I don't see anything on the underside of her lip! I looked on her bed and there is a perfect intention of two little teeth on the corner of the bed!  I was sick to my stomach---she was fine! She ran around with her little ice pack and drank some water and acted like nothing was wrong!  I'll look again in the morning to see how it looks, but I'm hoping she'll be all better!!

Family fun night

We took Kenzie to Chuckee Cheese tonight!  She was so excited and talked non stop about it since I told her we were taking her!!
We got there a little before Scotty so we played a few games and then she showed Scotty around when he got there!
Chuckee came out and Kenzie ran after him and danced!!!  It was so cute. She spun around and clapped and when Chuckee threw out tickets she ran around and scooped them up!!

It was a fun night and glad we got to make some family memories together!!!
